Changes are afoot for Trigames.NET -- some small, some large. Expect to see something somewhat unfamiliar, as well as some minor functional alterations throughout the site.
As a small site comprised of staffers who aren't in the industry, i.e. have day jobs, Trigames.NET isn't always at the forefront of the "news" scene. A while back, we made the quiet decision to stop trying to continually post news. However, we also found that for what we can offer, the site's content is so very fragmented. This is mostly noticeable from the back-end as opposed to the front-end, but it affects how things are arranged. Due to other technical oddities, the way we store game information is also faulty. You'll notice that a "game" doesn't really exist until there's a review or FIMP posted for it.
Well, the changes we've got coming should fix the things mentioned above:
- FIMPs, Places to See, Things to Do, and the erstwhile Weekend Updates are going to be condensed into blog reel we'll call Stream of Thought. "Blog" wouldn't be appropriate since we don't yet have commenting technology and are still trying to explore the most efficient solution for implementing it without having to rebuild our existing tech. With a more casual attitude towards posting news, it may be easier for us to keep up with quick, short posts that tell you what's going on in the gaming world.
- Games will now have their own pages. On a given game's page, you will be able to see all documents and other objects associated with it: reviews, impressions (via Stream of Thought), feature articles, editorials, and related games. Our structure will be also changing such that an article can be associated with more than one game or console, so a Mirosoft-related article that discusses both PC and Xbox 360 gaming will be included even if you filter our content by one platform over the other.
We're also working on... well... we can't tell you just yet, but to drop a hint, we think visiting Trigames.NET after "it" is complete will leave you in a "brighter" mood, so to speak.
These changes have no set schedule just yet; we're still in the alpha stages. However, we aim to bring you these well before the year 2008 comes to a close.
