AT A GLANCE aesthetics GRAPHICS: Outdated, simplistic--oh hey, it'sexactly what a retro-game homage should look like! SOUND: Blippy chiptunes from a bygone era--again, exactly what a retro-game homage should sound like. execution GAMEPLAY: Tight controls on every game evoke the best designs of the 8-bit era. Cosmic Gate is tedious, though, perhaps in an effort to faithfully mimic Galaga. VALUE: In total, the 8 self-contained games will keep you busy, but only the later ones will do so for more than a handful of hours. OVERALL The idea is fantastic, and some of the games themselves are incredibly fun, but the progression isn't handled as freely as it should be.
